The Performance Requirements are the only NCC technical provisions that must be satisfied.

Part 3.10.1 Swimming pools

Performance Requirement P2.7. 2 is satisfied for a water recirculation system of a swimming pool with a depth of water more than 300 mm, if it complies with AS 1926.3. For the purpose of clause 6.1.1 of AS 1926.3, a skimmer box is an outlet and must have a means of releasing the vacuum pressure should the suction become blocked.

Performance Requirements

As performance is a vital quality factor for systems, an important challenge during system development is to deal with performance requirements. For a credit card system, for example, a developer might consider performance requirements to "achieve good response time for sales authorization" and "achieve good space usage for storing customer information."

DP4(a)—the travel distance will affect the time taken to evacuate the building.Greater distances will require greater evacuation times. DP4(b)—the number of occupants can affect the evacuation time.A greater number of people will require a greater evacuation time through a single exit.

Functional vs Performance Requirements

Performance requirements are parameters that describe the minimum level of performance and desired characteristics the system should demonstrate in commendation of speed, response time, scalability, and resource usage. Such conditions provide the system with perfectly acceptable output when subject to different circumstances.
